A Vision of Lay Leadership and Participation
The development of lay ministers is one of the three priorities in the Diocesan Pastoral Plan.  The teachings of the Second Vatican Council led to a tremendous growth in the involvement of the laity in the life of the Church. The Council states: Participators in the function of Christ, priest, prophet and king, the laity have an active part of their own in the life and action of the Church. Their action within the Church communities is so necessary that without it the apostolate of the pastors will frequently be unable to obtain its full effect.

The parish communities of Christ the King, Most Holy Trinity, Our Lady of Guadalupe, St. John Vianney, Holy Cross, Five Wounds, St. Brother Albert,
St. Maria Goretti, St. Patrick, and St. Francis of Assisi have made “lay participation” a priority with thousands of parishioners serving in a variety of ministries. The parish faith formation program strengthens this leadership and involvement of laity in our community.

The parish faith formation program has been developed to provide a current updating of the core elements of the Catholic faith and to ground all participants in the teachings of the Catholic Catechism prior to taking training for a specific ministry area. It provides a deep understanding of what we believe as Catholics and what identifies us as a faith filled community of Jesus Christ. The program is beneficial to all who call themselves Catholic and want a deeper understanding of what we believe.

Sessions begin January 12, 2008 and is offered as in previous years, in 3 languages.  Click here to view the daily program schedule.
